I get the inspiration for my unique jewelry from many cultures. The natural world around me is a constant source. I may see an oil spill and attempt to recreate it, or emboss a piece by pressing a palm leaf into the clay. Speaking of clay, most of my work is produced using polymer clay as the focus piece. This wonderfully versatile material can be stamped, embossed, faux finished, aged and tempered in an ordinary toaster oven. I add findings such as precious or semi precious stones, precious metals, fibers and plant material, transferred images from my paintings. Each piece is a unique adventure and stands alone as a one of a kind masterpiece of wearable art.

I share my techniques through workshops and classes. I currently have several openings for my two hour private classes at my studio in Bluffton, SC. I can offer you a room for a minimal fee for intensive weekend of learning jewelry and fine art painting too. Students will join me as we explore the Low Country and paint Plein Air outdoors on location
if you prefer a group settings, follow these links to Spring workshops at the Averitt Center in Statesboro, GA.

Impressionist painters like Monet and Van Gogh took their easels to the landscape where painting on location allowed them to capture light and atmosphere. Join award-winning artist Gertrude Palmer in this series and paint Statesboro and surrounds, at four different locations. Each class will begin with a demonstration, followed by hands-on painting and one-on- one instruction. Class size is limited, all levels are welcome. Materials list will be available.
