Gert is joining the tribe! I’m impressed by the passion and talents of Macon’s Art Community at Triangle Arts, a reclaimed industrial zone just 6 minutes from downtown Macon. Don’t expect to find a sign trumpeting our new location. Do GPS 206 Lower Elm Street, off of 7th Street. 

 I’m thrilled to have a location where my patrons can see my latest work in progress. I invite you to come discuss your own vision for a custom Gert original,. While you are here, peruse my handmade jewelry collection. Valentines Day is right around the corner.

Chicago's Winnetka branch. After graduating from High School where she learned stone lithography under C. Levine, she moved to Eugene , Oregon where she found a fertile art community and was awarded the In Vivo Design Award for a collection of ethnic ski wear, the first fabricated in natural materials. After successfully designing a women's junior line that was released in the Seattle Market, the artist decided to refocus on stone lithography,and began studies at the University of Oregon. followed by a move to Southern Oregon University to study photo litho under Lyle Matouche (master printer for Karl Tobey) where she was awarded a scholarship and produced politcal and feminist works from 79 – 83 , including Even Valentino Ate Apples, The Great American Playboy,

Raamy & Steve: What I love about your picture is the Gestalt or Gertstalt (ala Steve) What I love about the picture which maybe I can articulate better is the broad brush strokes that make a delicate image.  It has a big impact on me. Gert's reply to Raamy & Steve: What a wonderful thing to say. I have succeeded then! I am glad you are moved by my painting. I never thought of it as Gestalt, and I like that descriptor, but I often think of them as gestures or gestural (a relation to gestalt?). Gesture Painting is a calisthenic exercise in drawing the figure, meant to capture the essence in a few quick strokes. I have done a lot of it painting on site or ala prima as they call it. Of course, Red Dress is more involved or not so quick. But it is very important to me to keep that original essence. I find, painting blind, so to speak, without a plan, gives the work a life, that seems to have a powerful effect on some people. I am always saddened when trying to polish
